$40.00 per bottle
Variety: Single vineyard 80 year old bush vine Grenache from the Blewitt Springs sub region of McLaren Vale.
Summary: The whole bunch character of this wine provides structure and a distinctive herbaceous complexity. Good flavour length is provided by juicy acidity and ripe tannin.
Tasting Note: Dark black fruit and a herbal edge lead to a rabbit’s hole of flavour and texture. A complex palate of forest floor, dark raspberry and five spice leads to a long finish well supported by ripe tannin. A wine of great intrigue and mystery.
Goes With Food: Matches well with savoury dishes such as rabbit ragout or wild mushroom and spinach pizza with truffle oil.
Goes With Cheese: Washed rind soft cheese or even a mild blue complement the olive and earthy characters in the wine.
Goes With Music: Pink Floyd – One of These Days.
Goes With Life: When you want a wine that starts a conversation about it – complexity abounds.
Serve At: 16-18 degrees Celsius. Unfined & unfiltered so some sediment may remain – we recommend decanting.
When to Drink: Ready to drink now, but will continue evolving through to 2030.
Vineyard: All hand-picked fruit from 80 year old bush vines growing in sandy soil in Blewitt Springs
Winemaking: Fruit was left as 100% whole bunch to ferment to dryness. Free run juice was then transferred from the ferment to a single 500L neutral French puncheon where it matured for 9 months prior to bottling in December 2018.
Production: 50 dozen produced under screwcap.
